The main components of LPG are propane, propylene, butane and butene, and contain a small amount of pentane, pentene and trace sulfur impurities. Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) as fuel has been widely used in people's life because of its high calorific value, smokeless dust, carbon-free slag and easy operation.

Liquefied petroleum gas cylinders (LPG cylinders), also known as "gas cans" in everyday life, are common, which makes people ignore the correct use method and its danger.

Now let's talk about some cold knowledge about the number of its "gas tank", which is absolutely cold and violent.

[1] Liquefied petroleum gas and other combustible gases shall not be used simultaneously in the same room.

Cylinders should not be placed close to heat sources and open fires, and should be kept at a distance of more than 1 metre from the cooker.

The explosion of gas tank is divided into two steps: "gas tank" explosion, instantaneous damage occurs twice, beginning with the physical explosion of tank breakdown, instantaneous expansion of liquid petroleum gas 250-300 times into gaseous state, resulting in shock wave, gaseous petroleum gas quickly mixes with air, when the concentration in the air drops to 3-11%, in case of open fire, chemical explosion will occur, the whole gas space. Explosive combustion produces huge shock waves.

Rubber hoses should be replaced every two years; if hoses become old and corroded, they should be replaced immediately; hoses should not pass through walls, windows and doors.

The normal service life of the sealing ring is 3 years, and it should be replaced and recorded immediately when it expires.

[1-2-3] A common gas tank is enough to blow up a two-storey building. The power of the explosion is equivalent to 3000 grenades.

The calorific value of 1 kg LPG is 46100 kJ, and the explosive energy of 1 kg TNT explosive is 4200 kJ (note: explosive energy is not proportional to shock wave strength). Therefore, the total combustion energy of 1 kg LPG is equal to the power of 10 kg TNT explosive. During World War II, only 56.7 grams of TNT were installed in the U.S. Army's K.II grenades. Such calculation: a gas tank filled with liquefied gas is: 15KG, equivalent to the standard power of TNT explosive 150KG, enough to blow up two-storey buildings.

It may be more intuitive to compare the power of a grenade: a grenade contains about 50 grams of TNT explosive. According to this calculation, the explosive power of a household gas tank (full tank) is equivalent to 3000 grenades. However, grenades usually attack targets by shrapnel, and in order to enhance explosive power, they contain not only TNT explosives, but also other explosive components.

If the cylinder burns on the ground for 4 minutes, it may explode.

The normal service life of LPG cylinder reducer is 5 years, and it should be replaced and recorded immediately when it expires.

There are six kinds of specifications commonly used for cylinders. See the type and parameters of commonly used cylinders.

"Liquefied Petroleum Gas Cylinders" (GB5842-2006) was officially implemented on February 1, 2007.

Cylinders manufactured in accordance with this standard (GB5842-2006) have a designed service life of 8 years.

Previously, the service life of LPG cylinders was 15 years.
